Why I Write Music
There are probably many reasons why one write songs or books or other forms of creative meanderings. Today as I watch some guy cross the street as slowly as possible, cell phone to his ear, me knowing with high probability what the next twenty years of his life were going to be like I was tempted to start categorizing people. Then I realized that:
1. That is a negative practice, and,
2. It’s been done a thousand times, far better than I could do it.
So that led me to this thought. The songs I write, love ‘em or hate ‘em, are unique expressions of my views on the world. There are millions of songs out there, the same notes, mere acoustic vibrations, but each imbued with something unique to the creator thereof.

So that is why I write more songs than blogs, tweets, even stories. They come form some creative channel in me, perhaps originating in my brain or some cosmic locale outside our galaxy, or maybe outside our realty spectrum! Whatever, they eventually find their way through me and out my hands and mouth.
Vibrations.
Hey, I co-wrote a book with that same title. Mere coincidence?
Who cares : ) ?
Bottom line of this tiny blog is that song writers write because it is a rare opportunity to distinguish one’s perceptions from all others, even though they all share a common tether in space-time. So perhaps it is the ILLUSION of unique creative effort that is so fulfilling and personally important.
It does not matter. I’ll keep writing and I hope at least someone out there is listening and finds a moment’s enjoyment of my creative output.
Peace
E
